The longtime principal of Dudley Elementary School has announced her retirement at the end of the 2020-21 school year. Karen Fingar has worked in the Fairport Central School District for 15 years. She began at Dudley in 2006 as an assistant principal, and accepted the position of principal in 2008.
Community is invited to school budget events, April 20 & May 4-5
The Fairport Central School District will host upcoming events for the community for the proposed 2021-22 School Budget. K-6 students return full-time on April 19 & 7-12 remains hybrid
Superintendent Provenzano sent the following message to all families with children in grades K-12 at Fairport schools, April 10, regarding the return to full-time instruction beginning April 19 after the NYSDOH updated its guidance on April 9, 2021.

Special Board Meeting on April 13 at 5 p.m.
The Fairport Central School District Board of Education will hold a Special Board Meeting on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at 5 p.m. to discuss the District’s return to school plans. The meeting will be held at Fairport High School Room 512 and is open to the public to attend in person,
Fairport secures STEAM Education Grant
The Fairport Central School District has secured a $7,500 grant to fund hands-on science equipment and projects for middle school students. The Bosch Community Fund Grant application by Fairport CSD was approved in February.

2021-22 School Calendar Updated – new start and end date
The Fairport Central School District updated the 2021-22 School Calendar, which was Board approved on April 5, 2021. The changes reflect the first and last day of school. The first day of school will now be on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 and the last day of school for students in grades K-8 will be Friday,
Students “LogIn and LevelUp” at Minerva DeLand
Students at Minerva DeLand School answered the call: time to LogIn and LevelUp – again! The stakes were even higher as students across the school were encouraged to increase their connectedness and their engagement with remote learning, and to earn points in a school-wide contest. Students earned points as their teachers logged and tracked levels of overall and individual engagement through Google Classroom and the IXL learning website.
Wall of Distinction Nominations Now Open
Nominations are currently being accepted for Fairport’s 2021 Education Wall of Distinction, which recognizes educators who have had positive, lasting effects on the educational process of a student or group of students.
The 2020 Wall of Distinction ceremony was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 winners will be celebrated in Fall 2021 with this year’s winners.
Celebrating FHS Artists with Gallery Exhibition
Fairport High School student artists were recently celebrated at a special in-person exhibition of their work at Image City Photography Gallery. Photographs by 10 FHS students were selected for the Gallery’s 12th “Through the Student Lens” exhibition, which is dedicated to high school student photographers.

Monroe County superintendents urge NYS to provide guidance

The Monroe County superintendents have sent a letter to the Governor and NYSDOH urging them to provide clear guidance as school districts prepare to return to full-time, five days a week of instruction.
