Experience  I began working as a bilingual instructional assistant for Caldwell County Schools in October 2017. For the next two years, I kept being called "profe" (which means teacher in Spanish), which I was not. So, I returned to school and got my master's in teaching. Now I am in my fourth year as a bilingual ESL teacher at West Caldwell High School and back at Gamewell Middle for the eighth graders.

Comencé a trabajar como asistente de instrucción bilingüe para los colegios del condado de Caldwell en octubre de 2017. Durante los siguientes dos años, me siguieron llamando "profe", lo cual yo no era (al momento). Entonces, regresé a la universidad y obtuve mi maestría en enseñanza. Ahora estoy en mi cuarto año como maestra bilingüe de ESL (ingles como seguanda lenguaye) con la secundaria de West Caldwell y de regreso en la entremedia de Gamewell para los estudiantes del octavo grado.

Favorite Educational Quote and Why  The Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda, once said that "podrán cortar todas las flores, pero no podrán detener la primavera" (they may cut all the flowers, but they can't stop the spring). In a time when everyone is looking to trim here and minimize there. I always remember this youth; those children will keep growing no matter what happens around us. I hope to add to their growth rather than trimming them.

El poeta chileno Pablo Neruda dijo que "podrán cortar todas las flores, pero no podrán detener la primavera". En una época en la que todo el mundo busca recortar aquí y minimizar allá. Siempre recuerdo a esta juventud; esos niños seguirán creciendo sin importar lo que suceda a nuestro alrededor. Espero aumentar su crecimiento en lugar de recortarlos.

Why I Became An Educator  I became an ESL teacher because that is what those students have asked of me. I do it for them. I do it to help enhance their language experience and navigate this new land.

Me convertí en profesor de ESL porque eso es lo que esos estudiantes me han pedido. lo hago por ellos Lo hago para ayudar a mejorar su experiencia lingüística y navegar por esta nueva tierra.
