Experience:
I’ve been a nurse for 26 years beginning my career in the hospital setting for the first 13 years. I have experience in intensive neonatal care, women’s health, oncology, and outpatient infusion. After transitioning to Caldwell County schools in 2008 I have been involved with case management of school health at Gamewell Elementary and Gamewell Middle schools and I often assist with coverage at other schools around the county as needed. I am nationally board certified in school nursing and am a certified youth mental health first aid trainer.

Favorite Educational Quote and why
“I’ve not failed, I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” - Thomas Edison. I love this quote because I’m not a quitter and realize that there is more than one way to get a task accomplished. If you are trying something, and you are not getting the results you want or need, then don’t give up! Try looking at the problem from a different angle, approach with a different attempt until you get your desired outcome. You may find thousands of ways that won’t work but eventually you’ll get your lightbulb to work too!!

Why I Became An Educator
I knew I wanted to be a nurse since I was 5 years old! In my kindergarten memory book my mother still has, I wrote in my kindergarten hand that I wanted to be a nurse when I grew up! I have always loved science and biological sciences especially! I love knowing how the human body works and how the body systems work together! I also love teaching students and staff about the human body and it’s function! I have always believed that if we understand how our body works then hopefully we’ll want to take better care of ourselves!

Favorite Places In Caldwell County
I love live music venues in our area, and all the beautiful hiking and biking trails in our region.

Activites
I enjoy being outdoors immersing myself in nature in many ways including hiking, biking, kayaking, and camping. I also love traveling and take every opportunity to visit places within and outside the United States!
