Why I Became an Educator
I always loved school growing up. I loved reading and writing. I always knew that school was something that I was really good at. It was a constant in my life. As I grew older, I always assumed that I would go to college, though I never really knew what for. I began working more and more with kids of all different ages through summer jobs, my church, and volunteering that I eventually realized that I was really good at it. When I got to college, I started really thinking about where I wanted my career to go, and I was lead to teaching.

Experience
This is my fourth year working in education, and my second year as a classroom teacher. I started my journey as a substitute teacher while I worked through college. During college, I worked for a local middle schools after school tutoring program where I help students with homework and different concepts they were struggling with. I then graduated from Western Carolina University in 2022 with my degree in Middle Grades Education with a focus on Language Arts. I complete my first year teaching at Walter Johnson Middle School in Burke County before transferring to Caldwell County to begin my career at Gamewell Middle School

I really like this quote because you never know what someone has went through or will go through in their lifetime. Material things can come and go, but education and the skills that you learn throughout your educational journey will be one of the few things that you will be able to keep with you forever.

Favorite Place in Caldwell County
I enjoy going to the Library in Caldwell County. As an English teacher, you can never have too many books!
