Experience
I began my teaching career many years ago working in Early Childhood Education. After a few years of leaving education and working in other fields, I returned. I received my Bachelor's of Science in Elementary Education, I began the first of my eleven years of teaching at Gamewell Middle School. I will be teaching 8th grade English Language Arts and Social Studies for 2023, but have also taught Science as well.
Favorite Educational Quote and Why
"If you don't like the road you're walking, starting paving another one." I chose this quote because it shows the power of choice. There will always be situations in our lives that we will not like, things that will be uncomfortable. But, we have the power of choice, to do things differently. Education allows us to change the course we are on, and allows us to pursue anything we want in life. It opens up worlds and successes we may have not have even realized were possible.
Why I Became an Educator
I am an educator for who I see everyday. There are so many things to learn and discover in this life. Yes, education is about the subject matter that students need to learn, that is true. But, it is also about so much more. Watching children and then young adults grow in who they are, seeing the paths they choose and the kindness they show others, is one of the greatest joys that one can be privileged to be a part of. I am an educator to guide them along their journey and to see the amazing adults they become.
Favorite Place in Caldwell County
The outdoor spaces of our county is where I love to be. There are walking and biking trails. places to hike, farms to visit, and so many other ways to be active in the natural beauty of our county.
Activites
I enjoy cycling, walking, and hiking, really anything outdoors. I love to spend time with my family and friends. I also love to read. You never know where the next book may take you!
