During the first two weeks of class, I will be assessing your child in reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension in order to determine his or her current reading levels.  Also, we will begin the first reading strategy in Xtreme Reading...The Word Mapping Strategy.  This strategy helps students figure out the meaning of unknown words as they are reading.  Students will be learning prefixes, suffixes, and roots before actually beginning the word mapping strategy.
