Hello, I am Mrs. York, media coordinator at Northwest Cabarrus Middle School. I attended Capital University in Ohio, where I received a B.A. in Secondary Education-English. Twenty-plus years ago, I chose to leave my home in Ohio and start the adventure of a lifetime by accepting a teaching position with Cabarrus County Schools.
This is my fourth year at Northwest Cabarrus Middle. I spent the previous 20 years at Concord Middle School, right across town. At CMS, I taught 7th grade ELA, coached cheerleading, directed Shakespearean plays, experienced the roles of Lead Teacher and Teacher of the Year, and tried to help our school in just about any way I could. I love to now share my experiences and help staff & students here at Northwest!
In my spare time (ha!), I enjoy traveling. My husband (a teacher at Concord Middle) and I like to spend time with our families in Ohio and West Virginia, and at the beach. I have enjoyed visiting other countries all over the world, too, and hope to one day take my family to some of my favorite places. In addition to reading, my other interests include the theatre, shopping, dinner out with my friends, and - above all - spending time with my two girls.
This year will mark my 8th year as a school library media coordinator. I really enjoy helping kids find "the JUST-RIGHT book" and watching them grow as literate learners, so the library is the perfect place for me.
My favorite book of all time is impossible to name - I've just liked too many!!!
