Bremerton School District offers choices for families
Thanks to continued support from our community and the passage of consecutive levies, the District is able to continue offering programs including art integration and specialized instruction in music, dance, drama and visual arts at View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy.
Transitions program teaches life skills
The Bremerton High School Transitions program provides students with special needs an opportunity to learn essential life skills. Transitions students learn important job skills such as teamwork, communication, and customer service while working at the coffee stand at Bremerton High School.
Hands-on learning keeps students engaged!
Maker/Breaker spaces allows students to explore, create new things, and practice critical thinking skills while fostering a sense of community. All of our elementary schools and Mountain View Middle School feature maker/breaker spaces for students.
Outdoor learning benefits students
Students at Crownhill Elementary are getting their hands dirty and having fun while engaging in science in math spaces in their garden space and outdoor classroom, funded with community donations.
Be Bremerton: A day of service
Be Bremerton: A day of service is an annual, districtwide community service event that provides us a chance to say "thank you" to the Bremerton community for its tremendous support of the District and our students. Volunteers work in teams to pick up trash and pull weeds throughout downtown Bremerton.
Social-Emotional Learning is a priority
Bremerton School District has made Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) a focus for grades PreK-12. We are working with administrators, teachers, families and outside agencies to learn how to create an emotional learning environment that responds to the needs of adults and students and how to teach social skills that are appropriate at each grade level.
Renaissance High School offers students alternatives
Renaissance High School (RHS) is the District’s choice high school. RHS provides flexible schedules and an individualized program to match every students’ needs and goals. Staff help students explore career options and training opportunities, and provide the support needed for every student to earn a high school diploma
Memorial Stadium at Bremerton High School
The passage of local capital levies provided funding for upgrades to Bremerton Memorial Stadium, where students from Bremerton High School, Mountain View Middle School, and athletes from throughout Kitsap County compete.
Mountain View Middle School student leaders build community
WEB, which stands for "Where Everybody Belongs, " is an orientation and transition program that welcomes 6th and 7th graders to Mountain View Middle School and helps them feel comfortable throughout their first year of middle school. The students also plan fun activities that build community in the school.
Crownhill Elementary: Five Houses, One Family
In 2019, Crownhill launched the House System. Inspired by Harry Potter, the House System creates a sense of belonging and support. Staff and students were sorted into five houses which meet together across grade levels to form lasting bonds. Students feel more connected at school and in turn increase engagement and academic achievement.
West Sound Technical Skills Center
West Sound Tech offers students advanced career and technical education programs. Students earn high school credits, free college credit, and equivalency credits with general academic courses, as well as industry certifications. WST serves students from Kitsap, Jefferson, and Mason Counties.
Performing Arts Center
We are proud of our 1,300-seat Performing Arts Center, also known as the "PAC." The District completed renovations of the PAC in 2018, funded with local levy dollars. The PAC hosts more than 100 school and community events annually.

Jumpstart for Kindergarten: As a part of our community-wide plan to increase kindergarten readiness, we are offering a new tuition-free preschool program called Jumpstart to Kindergarten. The program, held at View Ridge Elementary Arts Academy and Crownhill Elementary, is open to any child residing in our District who will enter kindergarten in our District the following year. Learn more at www.BremertonSchools.org/Jumpstart.
AVID Schoolwide: AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. The mission of the AVID organization is to close the achievement gap by preparing all students for college readiness and success in a global society. We’ve offered the AVID elective in our District at Bremerton High School and Mountain View Middle Schools for many years - and those programs will continue. But AVID best practices are now utilized in all grade levels at all schools. We are committed to all students having access to and success with engaging, rigorous, and student-centered learning environments. We want all students to develop critical thinking, literacy, and math skills using AVID’s research-based strategies and curriculum.
Raptor visitor management system: As a part of the District’s efforts to improve school safety and security, we have implemented a new visitor management system in all of our schools called Raptor. Visitors will be required to show a valid, government-issued ID when visiting our schools if they wish to go past the main office. We have also added security fencing and remodeled our schools to create a single point of entry for all visitiors. Learn more at www.BremertonSchools.org/Raptor
School-based health clinics: As featured in the Kitsap Sun, Peninsula Community Health Services is operating a school-based health clinic on our Mountain View Middle School and Bremerton High School campuses. The clinic provides medical, mental health and chemical dependency services for all students and staff in our District. We hope this on-site clinic will make it easier for students to get the healthcare they need. We’ll be sending out more information on this clinic in the very near future. Learn more at www.BremertonSchools.org/Clinic
"We are Kindergarten Ready" learning series: We want to support parents in preparing their students for kindergarten. "We are Kindergarten Ready" learning series includes physical learning materials and videos that parents can use to help their child get "kindergarten-ready!" The program provides parents ideas for incorporating strategies and practices into their routines to build foundational readiness in literacy, math, and social (SEL) skills.
