Assessment

  • The Bremerton School District participates in federal and state assessments.  Annually students in grades 3-8, and also in High School, are assessed in ELA and Math using the Smarter Balanced Assessment (SBA).  Science is assessed using the the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS) in grade 3, 8, and again in High School.  Kindergarten students participate in Washington Kindergarten Inventory of Developing Skills (WaKIDS), as part of our state's full-day kindergarten programming. Selected students are assessed for English Language Proficiency using the WIDA assessment of English Language.

We also use data from iReady Diagnostic assessments in reading and math to measure student learning and to inform teaching and supports. Collaborative teacher teams design common formative assessments to provide ongoing information on the results of teaching on student learning.  Detailed information about testing is available through our district office and individual schools or here in our Assessment Framework.  Please see the schedule of state and district assessments here.
