We invite you to visit our BoardDocs website to access school board meeting agendas, minutes and other information. Here are a few tips to help you navigate the site:
- For current meeting information, select the "Welcome" tab, which displays current meeting agendas and materials.
- To view minutes, find the meeting then click on "View the Minutes" button on the far right (available only after approval by the Board).
- For past meeting information, select the "Meetings" tab to scroll down through past meeting agendas and materials.
- To view upcoming meeting schedules and planned study sessions, click on the "Library" tab, then "General," then click on "Schedules"

Board meetings will be scheduled in compliance with the law and as deemed by the Board to be in the best interests of the District and community. The Board functions through: 1) regular meetings; 2) special meetings; and 3) emergency meetings.
The board also participates in study sessions hosted by BSD staff throughout the year.

Regular Meetings
What is a regular meeting?
A regular meeting is one that is held according to a schedule adopted by ordinance, resolution, order, or rule, as may be appropriate for the governing body.
The Bremerton School Board's regular meetings (most months) are the first and third Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. The meetings are held in the Board Room at the District Office (134 Marion Avenue North Bremerton, WA 98312).

Special Meetings
What is a special meeting?
A special meeting is any meeting that is not a regular meeting. In other words, special meetings are not held according to a fixed schedule. Under the Open Public Meetings Act, special meetings have specific notice requirements, as discussed below. Also, governing bodies may be subject to specific limitations about what may be done at a special meeting.Special School Board meetings may be called by the President or at the request of a majority of the Board members. An electronic notice of a special meeting, stating the time and place of the special meeting and the business to be transacted will be delivered to each Board member. Written notice will be shared with any media outlet that has filed a written request for such notices. Notices for special meetings will also be posted on the District’s website, and will be shared via District social media channels.

Executive Sessions
What is an executive session?
“Executive session” is not expressly defined in the Open Public Meetings Act, but the term is commonly understood to mean that part of a regular or special meeting of a governing body that is closed to the public. A governing body may hold an executive session only for specified purposes, which are identified in RCW 42.30.110(1)(a)-(o),50 and only during a regular or special meeting. -

Media Guidelines for School Board meetings

Members of the media are welcome at public meetings of the Bremerton School Board. All working media members wanting to attend/cover a Bremerton School District board meeting must have current media ID/credentials. Prior to or immediately upon arrival at a board meeting, media members are asked to connect with Karen Bevers, District Communication Director in-person, or by phone/text at 360-900-3842.
Members of the media and media equipment shall be required to video and photograph meetings from a designated media representative area of the room in which the School Board meeting is being held. Media representatives shall cooperate with district staff regarding placement of equipment, photography and video requirements or be subject to removal from the meeting.
