November 9 is Now a Half-Day for StudentsAt its September 10, 2018 regular meeting, the Baldwinsville Central School District Board of Education approved amending the 2018-2019 school calendar to include a 1/2 day of professional development for staff safety training on Friday, November 9, 2018, resulting in a 1/2 day of school for students in grades K-12.Dismissal on November 9 will be as follows: Baker High School – 11:02 a.m. Durgee Junior High School – 11:11 a.m. Ray Middle School – 11:15 a.m. Elementary Schools – 12:15 p.m. November 9 will also be the district’s annual sheltering/go home early day, which is a change from the original date of Tuesday, November 20, 2018. There will be no sheltering drill on November 20. Ray, Durgee and Baker will dismiss at their regular times. The elementary schools will dismiss at 11:30 a.m. for parent-teacher conferences. District Seeks Volunteers for Budget Advisory CommitteesThe district is beginning the development process for its 2019-2020 budget and is seeking community input through budget advisory committees. The district is looking for volunteers to serve on these committees to review specific areas of the budget and to provide input on the budget components as well as recommendations for cost savings prior to the budget components being presented to the Board of Education for review. Read more about the committees HERE.Senior Named a National Merit SemifinalistCongratulations to senior Thomas Grindle! He has been named a 2019 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalist. He is one of the highest scoring students in the state on last year’s PSAT/NMSQT, and he has the opportunity to continue in the competition for National Merit Scholarships. |
