Superintendent of Schools Brett Provenzano and Assistant Superintendent for Business Matt Stevens presented the 2022-23 non-instructional budget to the Board of Education at its Board of Education Meeting, Feb. 15.

The February 15 Fairport Board of Education meeting will convene at 5:45 p.m. and immediately go into Executive Session, which is closed to the public. The regularly scheduled public Board meeting will begin after Executive Session concludes.

The District is in the initial stages of developing the 2022-23 school year budget and is seeking parent and community feedback on the development process.
One way to get involved in this process is through the current ThoughtExchange (TE) confidential survey, which closes Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 9 p.m.
Children who will be five years old, on or before Dec. 1, 2022, are eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year at Fairport Central School District. The District is encouraging parents/guardians to register their child during Kindergarten Registration, which begins in February.
Parents will need to register at the school that their child will attend (see below for specific information for each school).

FCSD is aware that a Supreme Court judge on Long Island ruled yesterday that the state’s mask mandate is procedurally flawed. The state appealed the decision last night, and an appeals court judge heard the case this afternoon. A temporary stay of the enforcement of the Nassau County decision has been issued while the appeal is pending.

As you may have seen on local news or social media, many Fairport families were displaced from their homes in the Pines of Perinton complex by a devastating overnight fire. Many of those displaced were families of Fairport students. We are relieved to say that as we understand at this moment,

The district recently learned of a legal ruling from a lower state court in Nassau County that says the NYS Department of Health exceeded its authority by requiring masks be worn in school settings. This ruling conflicts with an earlier ruling in Albany County Supreme Court that upheld the Department of Health’s masking regulation.
Fairport Central School District staff, students and community members participated in a week of seminars and activities focused around the National Day of Racial Healing, Jan. 18. This observance is a time to contemplate
shared values and to bring all people together in their common humanity to inspire collective action in order to create and sustain a just and equitable world.
