Dear Fairport Community:
Today, collective efforts were made to assess the extent of the impact of yesterday’s devastating Pines of Perinton fire. As you are aware, this traumatic event left several our families and students temporarily homeless and with the loss of their belongings. The District is working very closely with our families, the Red Cross, the Department of Social Services and the Pines of Perinton to coordinate a response to support them in both their immediate and long-term needs.
The instant and earnest desire to support our neighbors is inspiring. The outreach from our community has been overwhelming with donations of clothing, hygiene products, blankets and more. Generous community members have created donation centers and The Hive Barn on Church Street in the Village of Fairport have collected numerous offerings to support our families during their time of need.
At this point, the quantity of donations has exceeded the current level of needs and the space required to store items. It is essential that we support these families over-time. Subsequently, we are organizing plans to determine their long-term needs and provide them with the necessary donations as they move forward. As we identify the list of future needs, we will reach out for specific donations as they evolve. Please stay tuned.
How Do I Make a Donation?
If you are able to support our families financially, the Town of Perinton has established a fund to accept monetary donations that will be dispersed directly to those impacted by this fire. Funds collected will be used to purchase daily living needs and larger household time once new housing has been secured for families.
- Checks can be made out to the Town of Perinton (the memo line should note: Pines of Perinton Fund).
- Checks can be mailed or dropped off at Town Hall (1350 Turk Hill Rd. Fairport, NY 14450).
- Cash donations will also be accepted at Town Hall during their normal hours of operation, Monday – Friday; 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Thank you again for your heartfelt compassion and generosity in supporting our students and families who were impacted by yesterday’s fire. In true Fairport fashion, we united to support our families as they walk through this difficult time.
Gratefully,
Brett Provenzano
Superintendent of Schools
