Fairport to host virtual events for National Day of Racial Healing

The Fairport Central School District will join organizations throughout the country in observing the 2021 National Day of Racial Healing, Jan. 19.

Fairport’s kindergarten registration begins Jan. 27

Children who will be five years old, on or before Dec. 1, 2021, are eligible to attend kindergarten for the 2021-22 school year at Fairport Central School District. The District is encouraging parents/guardians to register their child during Kindergarten Registration, which begins at the end of January.

Parents will need to register at the school that their child will attend (see below for specific information for each school).

Yesterday afternoon we were all receiving multiple alerts and text messages of the protests and unrest at our Nation’s Capitol.  Since then, the news outlets and social media feeds have been surreal, sharing unearthly footage of the desecration of the United States Capitol Building.

New Minerva DeLand group empowers students to comfortably communicate with each other

MD Student Leadership

This school year, Minerva DeLand created a Student Leadership group for students have a safe place to have conversations comfortably with each other.

The group serves as an idea-generating group in which conversations are ongoing instead of a one-time occurrence. Particularly, the focus of the team is to engage in conversations on race and actions plans for how we can grow together to become better allies for all members of the MD Family.

Northside students spread kindness as part of the ‘Be a Light’ Challenge!

Be A Light

Kelly Kingsley’s third-graders at Northside School are spreading kindness one day at a time during the month of December as part of the greater ‘Be a Light’ Kindness Challenge that has circulated throughout the greater community this season.

Some of the acts of kindness by Mrs. Kingsley’s class included making cards for administrators and sending holiday wishes to a local nursing home. Read more  »
