Hello musicians!

I am the director of the Central Cabarrus High School Orchestra Program. I also teach Honors Music Theory and AP Music Theory at CCHS. My primary instrument is the double bass, which I have been playing since 7th grade. As for the CCHS Orchestra program, CCHS students with middle school and/or high school playing experience on the violin, viola, cello or double bass may enroll in the Intermediate Orchestra. Students with no experience playing these instruments who also wish to learn how to play one of them, may enroll in the Beginning Orchestra. 

As with all arts classes at CCHS there is a $10 class fee per student per semester. Students with their own instruments are welcome to use them at school in rehearsals and performances. Students without an instrument may rent a school instrument for $25 per semester. Students who rent a CCHS instrument are responsible for its care and will be held accountable for lost, stolen, or damaged instruments.

As I mentioned, I also teach Honors and AP Music Theory at CCHS. Regardless of your musical background, if you would like to learn how to read, write, and understand many of the intricacies of music, you are encouraged to enroll in Honors Music Theory. This class also introduces students to ear training: listening critically to music, reading and performing rhythms, and hearing and audiating pitches. Students who complete Honors Music Theory with a final grade of C or above may take AP Music Theory. AP Music Theory is a college level class and those students who take AP Music Theory will be expected to take the national AP exam. Passing the national exam may result in earning college credit.
