Current day technology is a resource that can open opportunities for students and staff and proficiency with technology is increasingly necessary for everyday life at school, home and in the workplace.
Educational technology skills for students are usually integrated into content areas, such as language arts, social studies, science, math, health, and the arts. Skills for educators are usually integrated into the teaching process as part of the instructional methods used to improve student learning.
The Bainbridge Island School District aligns its teaching and learning activities with Goal Three of the Washington Basic Education Act that requires schools to integrate technology literacy and fluency in their curriculum. As curricular areas are reviewed, technology is integrated into the particular subject area.

2016 ISTE Standards for Students developed by the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

BISD curriculum standards will be regularly reviewed to verify alignment to state and national standards and the integration of technology.
Assessment of Technology Skills and Knowledge
Skills and knowledge for technology are incorporated into the learning process in the classroom and are taught in technology-specific courses, such as Technology Education in Career and Technical Education (CTE) at the middle school, and AP Computer Science, Architectural Drafting, and Digital Design at the high school level. As part of the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) initiative, robotics and programming opportunities are present at all of our schools.
