• BHS and EHHS ranked among America's top high schools

In 2012, U.S. News and World Report  released its list of the best high schools in the country. Ranking nearly 22,000 public high schools, Bainbridge High School was awarded a Gold Medal, placing them among the top 500 high schools in the nation. BHS ranked  #6 in Washington State and #212 in the nation.  Eagle Harbor High School was awarded a Silver Medal and ranked #40 in Washington State and #1,583 nationally.

Bainbridge High School also was again designated as one of the U.S. News Best High Schools for Math and Science, ranking #68 in the nation.

The three-step process in determining the best high schools takes the following into account:
    1. Schools serve all their students well.
    2. Performance on state proficiency tests.
    3. Degree to which schools prepared student for college-level work. This is based on Advanced Placement test results.

In these first two steps of the process to determine the best high schools, analysts look at reading and math scores on state proficiency exams, including the performance of the school's least advantaged students.

The methodology requires that schools pass step 1 in order to be reviewed on step 2, and to pass step 2 in order to be a part of step 3.
Researchers analyzed the nearly 22,000 public high schools. Of those schools, the top 4,877 were ranked nationally.

Teachers, administrators and students make it possible for both BHS and EHHS to be designated by U.S. News among the nation's top high schools.
