The FAB 5's Final Five Days of FUN
Mrs. O'Reilly's FAB 5 students are celebrating the final five full days of fifth grade. On Wednesday, we had a FAB 5 FEAST after completing our MAP tests. Thursday was "Full STEAM Ahead Day" as students are quickly approaching Middle School. We listened to the book One Plastic Bag. This book tells the story of how some African women used plastic bags to create purses, bracelets, and other objects to sell. This led to a direct economic and environmental impact as the women were able to make money to provide for their families' needs AND they also improved their environment by reusing the plastic bags for other purposes. Students reused the plastic bags and made bracelets. Students were challenged to take one plastic bag and use their creativity to reuse the bag for a new purpose. Leah C. was the only student to accept the challenge and bring her creation to school. Leah made a coaster by braiding strips of the plastic bag and then securing them together. You can see Leah's picture in the photo gallery along with some of the other students as they made their bracelets. On Friday, we enjoyed a FABULOUS Track and Field Day. The weather was perfect! You can see a few pictures of our sack races and the tug of war. More pictures can also be found on the Putnam County Schools website and social media sites.
Next week will also be filled with more FAB 5 FUN. On Monday, we will "KISS" the elementary good-bye. Fifth Grade Promotion and MAP Fun Day will be on Tuesday. This ends our five full days of fun, but we will still have more fun on Wednesday, which is an early dismissal. Wednesday is the FAB 5's LAST DAY as elementary students. Bring on Middle School!!!
