Calendar Week of August 20 - August 26, 2023
August 22, 2023
Dear PCR-I Parents and Guardians, Students, and Staff,
The Putnam County R-I School District has transitioned to a new student information system called Infinite Campus for the 2023-2024 school year.
As a parent or guardian, you will use Infinite Campus instead of Tyler SISK-12 to access your student’s information. All records and information are saved and are being transferred to Infinite Campus. Detailed instructions on how to create your Infinite Campus account and access the parent portal will be sent to you after 6:30 pm this evening. You will have until September 30 to complete your login information.
Infinite Campus is a widely recognized and highly regarded student information system used by numerous school districts across the country. This decision was made to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our administrative processes, along with ensuring a smoother experience for both parents and staff members. By switching to Infinite Campus, the district will streamline data management, enhance communication, and provide you with an improved user-friendly platform to access and monitor your child's academic progress.
Infinite Campus offers a secure and intuitive online portal that allows you to access your child's grades, attendance records, and assignments. This feature will enable you to stay up-to-date on their academic progress and make informed decisions regarding their education. They offer a mobile application for iOS and Android devices, allowing you to access information about your child's education anytime, anywhere. You will have the convenience of monitoring their progress and staying connected even while on the go.
We understand that any change in systems can be challenging, but we are committed to ensuring a smooth transition for parents and guardians. Our teachers and staff are in the process of undergoing extensive training to familiarize themselves with Infinite Campus and its features, ensuring they can provide you with the necessary support and assistance.
We are confident that Infinite Campus will greatly enhance our ability to serve you and your child’s education. We appreciate your support and understanding during this transition period. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact Central Office at 660-947-3361 or email infinitecampus@putnamcountyr1.net or mcasady@putnamcountyr1.net for assistance.
We’re looking forward to a successful transition and an overall improved user experience with Infinite Campus. As always, thank you for your continued support of our students, staff, and school district.
Sincerely in Education,
Mrs. Monica Casady
Director of Special Services

With ParentSquare, a unified app for school communication, parents and guardians can now receive all announcements from the district and their children’s schools and teachers in one place, with options to specify how and when they are notified.
Unionville, 07-21-2023 – Putnam County R-I Schools has launched ParentSquare—a simple and unified school-to-home communication platform—to reach and engage every parent, helping ensure all parents have the opportunity to actively participate in their children’s education. ParentSquare is now available for staff and parents to use on their computers or mobile devices.
By unifying multiple tools into one communications app and service, ParentSquare provides a seamless experience for parents and staff. Parents will be able to keep track of news, activities, and events from all their children’s schools in one place.
PCR-I hopes that ParentSquare’s intuitive, two-way platform will foster greater communication and family involvement. With ParentSquare, parents can enjoy photos posted by teachers, fill out forms and permission slips, sign up for parent-teacher conferences, check grades and attendance, and much more. School staff and parents can engage in both one-to-one and group messaging with real-time language translation.
“Effective school-to-home communication has never been more important, which is why Putnam County R-I adopted the ParentSquare communication platform. We’re looking forward to reaching 100% of our families no matter where they are, unifying all our communications tools, and adopting a more eco-friendly approach by reducing the amount of paper used to send important communications,” said Haley Watt, District Communication Specialist.
PCR-I’s partnership with ParentSquare will enable stronger engagement between school and home, and help empower everyone within the school community to stay connected and informed. For more information on ParentSquare, please visit www.parentsquare.com.

“Creating Opportunities Through Quality Education.”
The Affordable Connectivity Program is a discount program being offered by the FCC for households with children who participate in the free and reduced-price lunch program. The ACP program provides a benefit of up to $30/month discount on internet service. We are trying to make our local schools aware of this awesome opportunity for area households who may struggle with getting affordable internet access at home.
Attached is a flyer (ACP Fact Sheet PDF) with more information on this program. When parents apply online, they will need proof of their child’s participation in the school’s free and reduced-price lunch program. The school will need to supply the parent with this documentation. Parents can apply online or via USPS mail; however, online is much quicker. Once they are approved, they will need to contact NEMR in order to apply the discount to their NEMR account. For anyone who has questions about this program or needs assistance in applying online, they may call Lori Fleshman at our NEMR business office 660-874-4111.
Thank you!

Dear PCR-I Families and Community Members,
We hope this message finds you well. The purpose of this letter is to inform you about the recent Get the Lead out of School Drinking Water Act (RSMo 160.77) water testing conducted at our school district. Your health and safety, along with that of our students and staff, are important to us. We wanted to update you with the results, address any concerns, and assure you that we are taking immediate and comprehensive actions to address any issues identified.
Initial Test Results Overview: On August 4, 2023, we received the results from the first round of lead testing, as required by statute. Out of the 114 test points sampled, 42 samples showed detectable lead levels, which accounts for 37% of the samples. Of those, 25 samples had lead levels above the action limit of 5 parts per billion (ppb), making up 22% of the total samples.
The areas where lead levels above 5ppb were detected include:
Two drinking fountains (located by Room El-22 and MS-9)
Three bottle filler stations (by Room EL-20, MS-9, and the cafeteria)
Three hand-sprayers in the kitchen
The hand sink in the concession stand and the SOAR building
Other actionable sample results from hand sinks and showers
Immediate Actions Taken: To ensure the safety of our students and staff, we are implementing immediate measures in accordance with EPA guidance. Affected faucets or outlets have been removed from service and will be clearly marked with signage indicating that they are non-potable and not suitable for drinking or washing dishes. While this signage is temporary, it serves as an essential precaution as we continue to implement solutions to eliminate lead contaminants. New faucets and filtration systems and filters have been ordered.
Next Steps: We are committed to resolving this matter promptly and effectively. Following EPA and DHSS testing guidelines, on August 9 we conducted follow-up flush samples. Detailed information about our sampling plan, lab reports, and testing criteria can be found on our school website.
Explanation of Results: Our testing involved 114 samples, of which 68 showed detectable lead levels. Among these, 25 initial draw samples tested above the EPA's threshold of 5ppb for total lead content. For further clarification and localization, we will proceed with the follow-up flush testing as outlined in our testing criteria.
Remediation Plan: Rest assured that we are taking comprehensive steps to mitigate and correct lead exposure risks for our students and staff. The remediation plan will be shared once we receive the follow-up flush testing results. Our decisions will be guided not only by safety considerations but also by budgetary constraints and maintenance feasibility.
Your trust and understanding are greatly appreciated as we work together to ensure a safe environment for everyone within our school district. We will continue to keep you updated on our progress and any further actions taken.
Thank you for your support and cooperation.
Sincerely,
Dr. Heath Halley
Superintendent
