FAB 5 Read-a-thon and STEM Day
FAB 5 students enjoyed a day of reading and STEM activities. Some students made blanket forts for reading. The pictures show the students engrossed in their books. Students also completed the "Build an Igloo" challenge. After watching a video showing the building of a "real" igloo, the students worked with a partner to plan and construct their own igloos. The "work in progress" and "finished" products are shown.
Through this challenge, students learned the importance of planning and cooperation. They also learned that not everything goes as planned, and you have to be flexible in your thinking. Students also learned that a few ways NOT to build an igloo. I was very proud of how reflective the students were and how many things they thought they would change if they had to do the challenge again. They were eager to improve, and they are ready to try the challenge with real snow next time.
