Mark Twain Life Lessons in 5th-Grade
FAB 5 Friday - April 9
This month we are studying Mark Twain and the life lessons we can learn from some of his quotations and literary works. For our April 9, 2021, FAB 5 Friday, we studied this quote:
"The man who doesn’t read has no advantage over the man that can’t read."
After discussing the meaning of the quote and its life lesson, students completed a STEM challenge. The challenge was to build the tallest tower with 10 index cards that could support a book. Students were allowed to tear or bend the index cards, but they could not use tape, glue, or scissors. Several students' towers were able to hold 1 book. Remington N. and Rylie T. built the tallest tower that could support a book. Maddy V. and Spence S. built the tower that could support the most books.
