Fairport Central School District is mailing its District residents the latest edition of its newsletter, the Commentator ahead of the May 17 budget vote. The 2022-23 proposed budget vote date is Tuesday, May 17, at Johanna Perrin Middle School gymnasium from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Nominations are currently being accepted for Fairport’s 2022 Education Wall of Distinction, which recognizes educators who have had positive, lasting effects on the educational process of a student or group of students, through May 26, 2022.

Residents who are unable to vote on the school budget and Board of Education candidates on May 17, 2022 because of disability, illness or travel may apply for an absentee ballot through the Office of the District Clerk, 38 W. Church Street, Fairport, NY 14450.

Fairport’s School Budget Vote and Board Elections for the 2022-23 school year is being held in person on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Johanna Perrin Gymnasium. All budget details are available in the District newsletter, the Commentator, which was mailed to all residents.
Every student and staff member at Johanna Perrin Middle School (JP) knows that the JP library is a magical place; now, everyone in the Rochester region knows it too. The JP library was named “School Library of the Year” by the Rochester Regional Library Council (RRLC).
The library was nominated for the “School Library of the Year” distinction by JP staff members and students.
The Fairport Central School District Board of Education is composed of seven members elected by residents of the District. Members are elected for a term of three years and serve without pay.
There are three candidates running for two open positions. The incumbent is Dr. Brian Moritz. The candidates running for the Board are listed here in the order that they will appear on the ballot:

At this week’s Board of Education meeting at Fairport High School, the Board of Education voted to adopt the proposed 2022-23 School Budget.
The 2022-23 proposed School Budget provides opportunities to build upon the district’s commitment to meet and exceed the community’s expectations for meaningful and developmentally appropriate programming for grades K-12.
Author Brendan Kiely made a return trip to Fairport High School (FHS) last week to speak with students about his writing process and the events that inspired his work.
Brendan Kiely co-wrote the novel All American Boys with Jason Reynolds, which is an optional selection on the FHS ELA curriculum.
