Students in the High School Students United with NASA to Create Hardware (HUNCH) program at Fairport High School (FHS) completed a mid-year review of their projects, Feb. 14, a process that determines which projects will be selected to attend the final review at Johnson Space Center in Houston this upcoming spring.
Fairport student artwork featured in exhibit at RIT’s Bevier Gallery
Artwork from many students in the Fairport Central School District is now featured in the Start Here Middle School High School Exhibition at Rochester Institute of Technology’ s Bevier Gallery, which began on Jan. 26 with an awards ceremony and opening reception. The artwork will be on display at the gallery through Feb.
“Screenagers” film screening open to community, Jan. 8
The Fairport Central School District will present a film screening on Screenagers: Growing Up in the Digital Age Monday, Jan. 8 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at Minerva DeLand School, located at 140 Hulburt Road in Fairport. The event is free and open to all community members, parents and students in grades 5-12.
Minerva DeLand & Fairport High school rank among top 10 high schools in Monroe County
Congratulations to Minerva DeLand and Fairport High School for being named a top ranking school by The New York State Quality Index school ranking. Minerva DeLand was rated #1 and FHS was rated #8 among Monroe County high schools.

FHS Concert Band to perform at Eastman Theater, Monday, Nov. 6
The FHS Concert Band, including 45 students, is performing at Eastman Theater with the Eastman Wind Orchestra, Monday, Nov. 6 at 7:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Both of the ensembles will perform separately and then they will combine for one piece at the conclusion of the concert.
Fairport students experience rare opportunity to meet with leaders in Washington, D.C.
Each fall, Fairport High School (FHS) students have a rare opportunity to work with government leaders in Washington, D.C. to discuss topics and issues they research as part of a social studies elective course, Senior Leadership Seminar.
The course begins in the summer and requires student groups to begin researching a topic currently facing the nation.
