The Fairport Board of Education (BOE) unanimously voted to approve a resolution that authorizes and directs the consolidation of Minerva DeLand into Fairport High School starting with the 2026-2027 school year. Students in fifth grade in 2023 will be the first to move directly to Fairport High School, while students in sixth grade in 2023 will be the final class of ninth-graders to attend Minerva DeLand.
Board of Education considering options for merger of Minerva DeLand and Fairport High School
District leaders along with officials from Campus Construction and LaBella Associates presented the Board of Education with five options for the merger of Minerva DeLand and Fairport High School. Fairport High School musicians selected to perform with top student ensembles
Two Fairport High School seniors will take the stage this spring in a celebration of music education, and in recognition of their own accomplishments. Noor Rouhana (violin) and Reid Canham (oboe) were selected to perform and represent Fairport in the upcoming National Association for Music Education All-Eastern Conference.
Rouhana and Canham’s paths to All-Eastern are studies of perseverance and of joy.

Members of the Fairport and Perinton public met on January 9 in the new Fairport High School cafeteria to share their thoughts and questions about the upcoming merger of Minerva DeLand and Fairport High School. FCSD staff, parents and students addressed the Fairport Board of Education and administrators with recommendations for the best ways to enact the merger.
Board of Education renews resolve to merge Minerva DeLand and Fairport High School; upcoming opportunities for public comment and discussion
During the December 20, 2022 Board of Education Business (BOE) Meeting, the Fairport Board of Education renewed its commitment to the resolution passed in May 2019 to merge Minerva DeLand’s ninth-grade class with Fairport High School.
The Board reaffirmed the reasons for the original resolution to merge as such:
- to reduce the number of school transitions made throughout a Fairport student’s time in the District
- to expand access for ninth-grade students to the academic and extracurricular programming available at FHS
- to better align curriculum and programming
- to consolidate District buildings in response to declining enrollment
- to adjust start times

The proposed Fairport Forward 2022 Capital Improvement Project failed with 1,269 “no” votes to 1,220 “yes” votes.
