Miss Self

Hi! My name is Joy Self. I am from Apex, North Carolina. I graduated from University of North Carolina Charlotte with a degree in Elementary and Special Education. I am very excited to teach and I have been given this amazing opportunity to work at Hickory Ridge as the sixth-grade inclusion teacher for Math and ELA. I feel so honored to work alongside you to help your student to reach their goals!

I want to give you a little information about my philosophy as a teacher. I believe that every student’s life matters. I also believe that learning takes place best in a positive safe environment. My goals this year is to ensure that every student knows that they matter and that every student is being accepted for who they are in their educational journey. I also believe that communication is the key to all success. Therefore, I will communicate with you as much as possible when it comes to your student and their success. I believe that every child can learn and be successful when given the opportunities to do so. My job will be to provide your student with opportunities that will pave their road to success while working towards their academic goals.
