As students learn, they must effectively research, create, collaborate, communicate, and acquire knowledge in digital environments. The State Board of Education (SBE) and the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction (NCDPI) are committed to providing personalized digital-age education that K-12 students need to be successful in college, careers, and as globally engaged, productive citizens. Therefore, the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards for Students have been adopted as NC's Digital Learning Standards (DLS) and are designed to be integrated by classroom teachers and other licensed staff into the North Carolina standard courses of study. The DLS will foster digital-age classroom transformation while providing learner satisfaction and confidence. Educators will incorporate the DLS in every subject and grade level to support content learning.
More information about the ISTE Standards can be found at the ISTE website www.iste.org/Standards.
