2022 Certificated substitute bonus!

The per diem rate for certificated substitutes (beginning August 31, 2022) is currently $195 per day ($220 per day if a retired BSD certificated employee). Substitute Rates
The Bremerton School District, in an effort to increase the number of certificated substitutes, recently enacted the following incentives for the 2022-23 school year.
The following bonuses are retroactive to September 1, 2022.
- A substitute certificated employee who is not on a long-term assignment and completes the equivalent of 45 full days of employment will be paid a one-time $450 bonus.
- A substitute certificated employee who is not on a long- term assignment and completes the equivalent of 90 full days of employment will be paid a $900 bonus (additional to the $450 bonus paid earlier).
- A substitute certificated employee who is not on a long-term assignment and completes the equivalent of 135 full days of employment will be paid an $1,800 bonus (in addition to the $450 and $900 bonuses paid earlier).
Individuals who are interested in serving as a certificated substitute in the Bremerton School District will need to have a teaching certificate or a four-year degree which qualifies them to apply for an emergency substitute certificate. All new employees are also required to pass a fingerprint/background check.

If you have a current Teaching Certificate or Substitute Teaching certificate that is issued from the State of Washington, you can fill out our online job application. Certificated Substitute rate of pay is $195 per 7.5 hours day. Call if you have any questions at 360.473.1026.

Emergency Substitute Teacher

If you are interested in becoming an emergency substitute teacher you must hold any bachelor of arts or science (B.A. or B.S.) degree from an accredited college or university to be able to obtain a certificate.We are going to be offering a special on-line course for our new Emergency Substitutes. Contact us and/or fill out an application for an Emergency Certificated Substitute if you are interested at 360.473.1026 or 1024 or email leesa.bowie@bremertonschools.org. Substitutes are paid $195 per day for 7.5 hours, half-days and Wednesdays are prorated.
