Student, Family and School Liaisons

What do our Student, Family and School Liaisons do?

  • The Bremerton School Disrict has hired four Student, Family and School Liaisons to collaborate our school interventionists and counselors in supporting our students and families who may be experiencing a crisis or are in need of additional support. Our liaisons work to build relationships with the students and families, connect them with resources available in the community, and provide parent support.

Rebecca "Becca" Disbrow

Hello, my name is Becca Disbrow and I am happy to be joining the Bremerton School district family as a new Student, Family and School Liaison. I will be serving West Hills STEM Academy primarily and supporting Renaissance High School and West Hills Restorative School.  My experience includes being a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, working in Pediatric Integrated Care and being a parent and grandparent. Working with children and their families has been a great joy and honor. I believe in the power of connection and listening. My interests include art, dancing and being on or near the water. I have 2 dogs and a cat and used to raise chickens. I grew up on the east coast and miss the fall leaves and snow, but nothing compares to the Pacific Northwest Summers! I’m always wanting new suggestions for beautiful hikes. I am also very excited that we will have our own hockey team soon (Go Kraken!!)

Sarah (Katie) Sieple

My name is Katie Seiple and I am the Student, Family, and School Liaison, primarily at Armin Jahr Elementary and when needed, at View Ridge Elementary. I earned my Masters degree in Social Work at the University of Washington and have been in this role for two years as of this school year.  I am a Navy veteran, serving four years on our local aircraft carrier- the USS Nimitz. The greatest thing I learned during my time in the military is that each job is equally important and that we all have a role to play in moving any mission forward.
My favorite part of my job is establishing a relationship with our students and families. I work alongside them to help identify and remove any barriers that may prevent the student from accessing their education and full potential at BSD. My goal is to ensure every family and student feels seen, heard, and valued here in our district.
Families can contact me by email - sarah.seiple@bremertonschools.org or call/text my work cell phone at 360-622-1910.

Jessica Shine

About me:
Hello! My name is Jessica Shine, and this is my second year as a Student, Family, and School Liaison with the Bremerton School District and Mountain View Middle School. I grew up in Kitsap County and have lived in the Northwest my entire life. I'm the mom of a middle  schooler and a first grader. I love spending time with my family, traveling, reading, all things Disney and Harry Potter, and am a die-hard Gonzaga basketball fan! I have a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology, am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, and have worked with children and families in community mental health for over sixteen years before coming to the Bremerton School District. I am so excited to be here and to help support our awesome students!

Services I provide:

The purpose of my position as a Student, Family, and School Liaison is to support
students’ and families’ needs which require additional resources beyond the capacity of
the school counselors and administrators. Services may include crisis intervention,
referrals to and partnerships with community resources, student and family advocacy,
collaboration with school counselors and multi-disciplinary school staff, and individual
student or small group support.
When meeting with students or parents, I often describe my position as a cross between
a counselor, a social worker, and a therapist. I provide a safe space for students to go if
they need extra emotional or behavioral support. I can provide a listening ear, help them
problem solve, and work on skills to handle tough issues and make positive choices. I
may meet with students individually or in small group settings, and may also work with
students and their families to connect them to needed resources in the community, such
as medical or mental health services.
Students or families can contact me at jessica.shine@bremertonschools.org or 360-
473-0657, and students can find me at B107 in the main building at Mountain View. I
look forward to connecting with you!
