From the Desk of Dr. Halley: Bus Route Update

🚌Putnam County R-I is still creatively working to cover our transportation routes. We still have 2 bus driver positions open and are currently covering them with substitute drivers. (Kudos to those who sub! We appreciate our retirees, teachers, and coaches for filling in!)

🚌Beginning Friday, April 8, 2022, we will be adjusting the busses that our town bus riders will be riding. This is to accommodate numbers. This will not have an impact on arrival times.

🚌Going forward, without additional drivers to fill the 2 vacant spots, we have a few options.

1. There is a slim opportunity to combine 2 routes. (We are still researching this possibility.)

2. Cancel a route for a day when short a driver.

3. Cancel school for the day when short on drivers. (Those school days would have to be made up.)

4. Double up routes. (For example, a driver would drive a route, drop off students, then drive the 2nd route. This option is really not feasible.

Due to new requirements, it will take weeks to get new drivers trained. If you have ever thought about driving a bus to supplement your income, now is the time. We need you more than ever.
