Time to Vote: 2022-2023 School Year Calendar Survey
Our school board is looking to make their decision on the 2022-2023 School Year Calendar for PCR-I. We held 3 forums earlier this year to help provide information on the pros and cons of a 4-day school week. You can find the information that was presented here.
We have since then re-surveyed our staff and are requesting input from you as well on which calendar works best for you and your family’s needs.
Please take the time to review the calendar option that you think is in the best interest of our school. Both calendars begin at 8:15 am and dismiss at 3:30 pm.
Option 1 is a 5-day calendar with built-in snow days that are not made up and a few new extras. In September, you’ll notice that we are not in session during the Putnam County Fair.
In October, we are out early on the 20th for Parent-Teacher Conferences and then not in session that Friday -Monday.
In November, we have 5 days for Thanksgiving Break.
In December, we have the traditional 2 full weeks of Christmas vacation, Early out on December 16-Jan 2.
In January, we are off on the 16th for MLK Day. (Any snow days are already built-in)
In February, we have an extended break with an early out on the 17th and not in session on Monday the 20th for President’s day.
In March, we have a full week off for Spring Break in addition to our normal Easter break in April.
In May, we dismiss early on the 19th. Summer school starts on May 30.
Option 2 is a 4-day calendar. Students would be off every Monday (with a few holiday week exceptions) for the entire school year.
In September, we would be in session for Fair Week but would dismiss early each day. The only other early dismissal would be on the last day of school.
In November, Thanksgiving break would be Thursday/Friday.
In December, Christmas break would be from December 22 - January 2.
In April, Easter break will be our normal Friday/Monday.
The last day of school would be Friday, May 26.
Snow days are not built into this calendar and would be made up on various Mondays in January - May as needed. Specific snow make-up dates are listed on the calendar.
Once you are ready, please fill out our brief Google Survey and let us know if you would prefer Option #1 or Option #2.
If you have multiple children in our district, please only take the survey once.
The survey can be accessed here: 2022-2023 School Calendar Survey
We will present the survey results to our board members so they can make an informed decision on the 2022-2023 school calendar. Thank you for your time and consideration.
