Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a best practice, multi-tiered framework that strengthens existing behavioral supports and enhances the social culture within schools.
At MD we follow the PBIS framework with our The Raider Way Program, which serves as our character education program. At the core of our The Raider Way (TRW) Program is a school-wide common language around behavioral expectations, as well as a proactive approach for positive recognition of students and staff who demonstrate these positive character traits. We expect all of our MD Raiders to be Respectful, Responsible and Resilient. The expectations are displayed throughout our school, and are reinforced by the entire school community including classroom curriculum.
Students and staff are recognized on a daily basis for exhibiting positive behaviors, which includes our CARE developmental assets, DASA traits and responsible attendance. Additional awards include certificates of acknowledgment, a breakfast with the Principal, a TRW t-shirt and entered into a raffle to win cool Raider socks.
