Fairport High School (FHS) welcomes its newest assistant principal beginning Oct. 4, 2021, replacing Ashley Edwards who is now in the Brighton CSD.
After receiving Board of Education approval at the September 13 Board Workshop, Stephanie Miner is the new Blue House Assistant Principal at FHS. The District conducted an extensive process with a deep pool of highly qualified candidates. The process included screening interviews, committee interviews with multiple stakeholders and culminated with a student forum.
Ms. Miner comes to Fairport with nearly 20 years’ experience, most recently at the Penfield CSD where she has served students as a school counselor for more than 18 years, and having led her department for the past 12 years. Previously, she was a school counselor at East High School in the Rochester City School District.
“I am most looking forward to getting to know all of the students, families and staff that make Fairport High School the amazing place I have long perceived it to be,” said Ms. Miner.
She said that while her job title at Fairport will be different, her core values as a school counselor – empathy, advocacy, equity and approachability – will remain the same as she transitions to her new role at FHS.
“Ms. Miner’s leadership skills are exemplary, and include being one of the founding members of the Penfield Education Foundation, as well as her focus on the mental health and well-being of students through the introduction of suicide prevention programs such as Sources of Strength,” said Fairport High School Principal Robert Clark.
Originally from Saratoga Springs and after attending college in Rochester, Ms. Miner has since called Rochester home. She lives in Penfield with her two children, ages 12 and 9.
