Are you a Fairport community member interested in running for the Board of Education?
The Fairport Central School District announces petitions for two Board of Education candidate positions. Voters will elect two members to the Board of Education at the annual budget vote on May 18, 2021. The two seats currently held by Peter Forsgren and Arlette Miller Smith, Ph.D. will expire on June 30, 2021.
All Fairport residents are welcome to submit a petition to run. Members are elected for a term of three years and serve without pay.
To run for the Board of Education, a potential candidate must be a citizen of the United States, a resident of the District for one (1) year preceding the vote, and at least 18 years of age.
Interested candidates with new three-year terms beginning on July 1, 2021 can obtain a petition during regular hours, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. In order to be placed on the ballot, petitions must be submitted with a minimum of 38 signatures of District voters to the District Clerk at 38 W. Church St., due by April 19, 2021 at 5 p.m. The 2021-22 school budget and Board elections will be Tuesday, May 18, 2021 from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Johanna Perrin Middle School gymnasium.
