The Fairport Central School District has appointed Dominic Monacelli as the new Acting Principal for Minerva DeLand School. Monacelli has been serving as an assistant principal of Fairport High School since 2014.
“Mr. Monacelli is completely invested in developing, nurturing, and sustaining the best environment for our students and staff to thrive and be successful,” said Superintendent of Schools Brett Provenzano. “He cares deeply and strives to make connections and be an inspiration to those he serves; to say that he is ‘all in’ with our District’s vision of excellence is an understatement!”
With 20 years’ experience in education, before his time in Fairport Mr. Monacelli was a social studies teacher for the Lyons Central School District, as well as in administration positions. He has also coached football for 20 years, both at Lyons and for the past five years at Fairport.
Provenzano shared that Mr. Monacelli’s ability to mobilize and inspire a school community around a compelling vision distinguishes his leadership.
“Our school community has benefited from his vision with our District’s Homecoming festivities, the Make a Difference and Your Mind Matters campaigns and the Raider Podcast.”
He holds a Certificate of Advanced Study in Educational Administration from The College at Brockport, Master of Science in Physical Education from Mississippi State University and Bachelor of Arts in History from SUNY Buffalo. His Teaching Certification Program, Social Studies 7-12, is from Buffalo State College.
Mr. Monacelli shared that his life’s mission is to make a difference by helping others thrive. Adding, “I will serve the Minerva DeLand families and staff with this singular focus as we thrive together through these adverse circumstances we are currently under,” he said.
“I am looking forward to building relationships with our students, staff and families, contributing to the special Minerva DeLand culture and collaborating to bring the freshman class together for a great experience,” said Mr. Monacelli.
Mr. Monacelli and his wife, Julianna, have three children, including Harper, 11, Greta, 9, Wyatt, 5. They enjoying spending family time outdoors in activities such as hiking, mountain biking, skiing, and snowshoeing. Mr. Monacelli replaces Pam Ciranni, who is now the District’s Director of Special Programs.
