The Fairport Central School District is pleased to announce Pam Ciranni as the District’s Acting Director of Special Programs. She was most recently the principal of Minerva DeLand School. Ciranni will oversee special education programming in grades 6 – 12, as well as Fairport’s K-12 music program. She replaces Susan Walz, who retired in June.
With 25 years of experience in education, Ciranni began her time at Fairport as an assistant principal at Fairport High School and has been at the District for 17 years. She received her undergraduate degree in music education and her master’s degree in music from SUNY Fredonia, and Certificate of Advanced Studies in Educational Administration from SUNY Brockport.
“As an experienced administrator in the Fairport CSD with a variety of experiences pertaining to building leadership, Special Education and previous experience as a band teacher and music department co-chairperson, Mrs. Ciranni’s skillset is an undeniable match for the Director of Special Programs,” said Superintendent of Schools Brett Provenzano. “Mrs. Ciranni is knowledgeable, reliable, responsive and detail oriented. She places a high value on collaboration, communication and building positive relationships with all stakeholders. We will all benefit from her keen insights into teaching and learning and the high value she beholds and investment she has in the vision of our District.”
As a resident of Canandaigua with her husband, Mike, a musician and music teacher, and children, Chloe and Jack, Ciranni said her transition to the new director role is an exciting endeavor, as it is “the true synthesis of my passions and experiences.”
“One of the aspects I have most enjoyed during my tenure as an assistant principal and principal is collaborating with families around the needs of students with disabilities,” Ciranni said. “As a musician and former music teacher, working to ensure that music remains an essential component in our students’ rich learning experience during these unique times is important to me.”
