Welcome to Poe’s Pack!  My name is Nealy Poe, and I am excited to be your child's first grade teacher this year.   First grade is a year full of excitement, friendship, and a lot of learning.   It is a year full of growth in both reading and math.

     I have been teaching for fourteen years.  Nine of those wonderful years have been as an Odell Dragon.  I have my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Carolina Charlotte. I was also a student athlete, playing women’s tennis all four years. Through ongoing Professional Development, I continue to grow as an educator to meet the needs of all students that enter through my classroom door.  I believe in maintaining a happy, positive working environment.  My job is to help my students discover and learn.  I also feel students respond best when they know what to expect.  I try to be as consistent as I can be with my routine, composure, and expectations both academically and behaviorally.

When I am not in the classroom, I enjoy spending time with my family.  I have been married to my husband, Russ for twenty-two years.  Together we have Riley who is eighteen and Grayson who is sixteen. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing tennis, baking, going on walks, and shopping.

* My favorite subject is Math. I do love to read as well.

* My favorite animal is an otter. Especially river otters

* In my free time I like spending time with my family, playing tennis, reading, baking, and shopping.

* I grew up in Chapel Hill and am a Tarheel at heart.
