Welcome back to school! This is a Monarch butterfly. Our class enjoyed watching it through each stage of its life--from the egg, to the caterpillar, to the chrysalis and finally to this beautiful Monarch! Plant milkweed in your yard and you just might get a visit from a Monarch. Milkweed is the only plant Monarch caterpillars will eat.

Welcome to my webpage!
I am excited about another year of learning and working with your children! I work with students in small groups in the areas of reading, writing, math and/or social skills depending on the goals targeted in their IEPs. This year marks my 37th year of teaching--5 years as an elementary Art teacher and 32 years as a Special Education teacher. Prior to teaching in Cabarrus County, I taught in Texas and Iowa. I have three grown sons, five cats and two dogs. My husband is a professor in the Department of Reading and Elementary Education at UNC Charlotte. I love spending time with family, going to antique stores, flea markets and thrift stores, camping and gardening. My family and I are big fans of the Houston Astros. I am fascinated with Monarch butterflies (actually all butterflies) and enjoy raising them from eggs I find in my backyard. Please feel free to contact me anytime you have questions or concerns.
