Mrs. Kimberly Burd

             Welcome to 2nd grade and welcome to our website!  Thank you for visiting. I am very excited to be working with students, teachers and their families in Cabarrus County Schools.

I love teaching and have taught a number of grades in elementary school. Before I was a teacher, I worked as a licensed optician and business professional. My heart was in teaching, and I listened to my heart. 

I grew up in Rocky River, Ohio with four brothers and sisters, and I received an undergraduate degree from Bowling Green State University (Go Falcons!) in Ohio. I received my Master's Degree from UNCC (Go Niners!) in 2006 after many years of working, parenting, and going to school! In addition to having a K-6 license to teach, I also carry a K-12 Reading Specialist license and have also received my National Board Certification in Literacy. I also coach other coaches and teachers for National Board certification across the state.

I lived in Ohio for 24 years before I moved to North Carolina with my husband, Kevin.. Kevin and I live in New London with our two sweet dogs, Sophie and Ozzie. We are now empty-nesters, as our two wonderful children have moved on to adulthood.
