BOE Policy Code 3460 Graduation Requirements
This is my sixth year at Mt. Pleasant High School and my fifteenth year as a teacher. I began my teaching career as a Business and Marketing Education teacher. I then transitioned to the position of Career and Technical Education Coordinator or CTEC. I am also the Career Development Coordinator (CDC) for MPHS. Students interested in an internship should contact me for assistance. I am excited about helping the students and staff of our Academy of Architecture and Construction Program of Choice. Adding Electrical Trades and Interior Design has enhanced our offering of Masonry and Drafting for our academy students. We are excited to welcome Jody Barbee Spring Semester as a Construction Core teacher.
The CTEC/CDC responsibilities incorporate the North Carolina Standard Course of Study, National Career Development Guidelines, the National Model for School Counseling Programs, and Future Ready Student for the 21st Century. CTECs/CDCs work with students, parents, staff, and the community in the areas of career development, transition services, partnerships, and professional development. I work with students and school counselors to help students select courses they are interested in and courses which will meet all graduation requirements. 4 year plans are created for all MPHS students to visualize their progress towards graduation. See the tab on the left for more information on CTE Career Pathways.
I also serve as the Career and Technical Education department chair at MPHS. Our program areas include:
* Agriculture Education
* Business, Finance and Marketing
* Computer Science and Information Technology
* Family and Consumer Sciences
* Health Sciences
* Trade, Technology, Engineering and Industrial Education
* MPHS Program Choice Academy of Architecture and Construction
Please stop by my office in the CTE Building for assistance with your college and career planning/career pathway process. I am available Monday - Friday 7 AM - 2:00 PM. Please email me at elizabeth.poole@cabarrus.k12.nc.us with your phone number or email and I will respond as soon as possible.
If you are under 18, you need a youth worker's permit. The process has changed. You need a job offer with the employer's email to begin the process. See me for assistance.
