My philosophy!
We are fortunate at our school to have regular music classes. I strongly believe that music education is important for the WHOLE student. Music gives us confidence as it teaches us about discipline, teamwork, and cultural awareness.
My teaching style is a hybrid of different methods but I heavily lean into the Orff approach.
What is Orff??
Orff is a teaching method I use regularly in the classroom. Carl Orff was a composer and educator who believed that students learn through experience. The Orff Approach uses a mixture of singing, dancing, acting and playing instruments (such as: xylophones, metallophones, glockenspiels, recorders…etc.).
My goals are to:
- Help nurture an appreciation of music
- Perform in the school and surrounding community
- Build good character/discipline through working as an ensemble
