I am happy to say that this is my 26th year at Weddington Hills Elementary! I started teaching at Weddington the first full year the school was opened in 1997. I taught 2nd grade here for 12 years and loved it. My passion has always been reading, so 13 years ago I decided to move into a reading support position at our school. My job title is Lead Academic Interventionist/Teacher. My job is wonderful because I am allowed the opportunity to work with teachers AND students. I support our classroom teachers by providing professional development and collaborating with teachers in planning curriculum and instruction. I also work with small groups of K-5 students to improve their reading and math skills. My goal is to encourage, guide, and support students throughout their educational journey and to teach them to never give up! I am a life-long learner and want to instill in my students that you never stop learning and growing!
I have 2 children (my daughter is in 8th grade and my son is in 10th grade) and they both graduated from Weddington Hills! I loved having them at school with me because all of the teachers at the Hills put kids first and work so hard for their students. I can't imagine working at any other school. We have the best staff and students in the county! I have been married to my husband for 17 years and we have two cute dogs! l am so proud to work at this amazing IB World School!
