2020-2021 School Year. Below are some reading links that we used to study, review, and play games to review content. Feel free to play around.

Review Materials:
1. Summarizing (Summarizing is a retelling of the story. We practiced using the strategy Somebody, Wanted, But, So, Then). Attached are passages that you can use to practice these skills)
2. Theme (Theme is what the author/story is trying to teach the reader. We used the strategy, "The author believes, _____"). Use these task cards to practice.

3. Figurative Language (Figurative Language is the way something is said/written to create a special effect). Play this game and sort the different types of figurative language.

4. Point of View (POV is the view from which a story is told). Look at the anchor charts and paragraphs to determine the POV.

5. Text Features Poster & Text Features-Article(Text features are included in nonfiction text. They help you to locate important information quickly and can help you to determine the main idea.). Check of the poster of text features and the text features-article.
6. Main Idea & Supporting Details (Main idea is what the text is mostly about. Supporting details help explain, describe, or support the main idea.) Check out the anchor chart. You can read any text and try to find the main idea!

7. Text Structure (Nonfiction can be written in different ways-descritpion, compare/contrast, problem/solution, chronological order, cause/effect). Check out the anchor chart that gives you helpful signal words to identify the text structure.
