Armin Jahr Elementary Safe Walking Routes
800 Dibb Street Bremerton, WA 98310
Be Safe - Be Seen!
- Elementary students who reside within a one-mile radius of Armin Jahr walk to school. We recommend:
- Children do not walk alone.
- If possible, they should be accompanied by an older child and/or adult. In most cases there are children willing to walk together.
- If your child is going to be going home from school a different way from the usual routine, we request a phone call or a note from a parent or guardian granting permission.
- For the safety and welfare of our students, please drive safely in the Armin Jahr attendance area when students are walking to and from their homes and bus stops. Please discuss at home, safety rules for walking and riding bikes to school.
- Remind your child to stay on approved walking/riding routes. Please do not walk on people's property. Stay on the sidewalks or the side of the road walking against traffic (facing traffic).
Special Areas of Concern
- Sheridan Road, Pine Road, and Sylvan Way are the most heavily traveled car routes. Parents might want to walk the routes along these roads with their children to point out possible problems and where they should cross streets.
- One route for children who live north of E 31st Street and west of Pine Road leads through the Manette Villa Apts. It then crosses a footbridge and goes along the nature trail to the school soccer/baseball field. This nature trail part of the route should not be used unless parents or adults whom parents have selected to accompany your child.
