The Rocky Point High School English Department hosted its 46th Annual Mark Twain Literary and Art Contest Awards Ceremony on May 23. Mrs. Schumacher and Ms. Blume served as co-advisers of this literary and art contest.
This contest gives students a forum and an opportunity to share their writing and artistic talents. In the words of the wise Albert Einstein, “Creativity is contagious, pass it on.”
“Creative individuals help us see the world in a more beautiful, interesting, and exhilarating way,” MS. Blume said. “Our many creative student-winners will be the next generation to inspire art, movies, music, fashion, books, and even architecture, making our world a more beautiful, meaningful place to live.”
Along with all of the creative student winners, in attendance were Principal Mr. Moeller, Assistant Principals Mrs. Lawson and Mr. Gabrielle, Director of Humanities Ms. Brooks, Superintendent of Schools Dr. O’Brien, Assistant Superintendent Mrs. Crossan and Board of Education Trustee Mrs. Sullivan.
Representing the English Department was Chairperson Mr. Settepani as well as distinguished English teachers Mrs. Catandella, Mrs. Hludzinksi, Mrs. Hull, Ms. Bongiorno, and Mrs. Pina and high school librarian Jessica Sciarrone.
Representing the Art Department was Chairperson Mr. Armine along with art teachers Ms. Kyriakakis and Ms. Cella.
Congratulations, students, for your outstanding artistic and literary achievement. We encourage you to continue to create, write, draw, paint, and explore, making the world a more beautiful, inspiring place to live.
