Reminder: The district is in the process of developing a new strategic plan that will help shape our priorities for the next several years. As part of that process, you are invited to complete our planning survey to share your feedback and experience. Prioritizing and Refining District Initiatives
The Rocky Point School District’s Strategic Planning Committee members are working on prioritizing and refining district initiatives as they reviewed additional input from the educational community.
Next Steps in Strategic Planning Process
The Rocky Point School District Strategic Planning steering committee members met on Nov. 17 to outline the strategic plan’s priorities and metrics for monitoring and growth. The committee members broke into groups to strategize on academic supports, community engagement, student-centered learning and more, focusing on key objectives and key outputs as they move toward a final strategic plan set to launch in the new year.
Rocky Point’s Strategic Planning Moves Ahead
As the Rocky Point School District moves ahead in its strategic planning, steering committee members met on Nov. 1 and 2 for the preliminary visioning sessions to develop the strategic direction such as mission, vision and values. The group began to analyze data trends from the recent community survey, focus groups and virtual town hall.
The steering committee also:
* Conducted a deep dive into the Rocky Point community engagement data.
* Created challenge statements to resolve in the district’s next strategic planning phase.
* Brainstormed how to improve the district’s mission statement.
* Created six vision statements to iterate on.
* Aligned focus areas for the strategic plan.
* Determined an initial list of core values for the plan.
The steering committee includes a broad spectrum of constituents including district office and building administration, departmental administration and teacher chairs, teachers, counselors, students, staff, parents and community members. The steering committee has set an agenda with additional meeting dates to continue this important strategic planning process in the district.
