Committee on Special Education

By invitation only, not open to the public.

The Committee on Special Education (CSE) and the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) are appointed by the Board of Education. They are charged with ensuring the timely evaluation and placement of students with disabilities. Both committees act in accordance with the provisions of Education Law. The CSE and CPSE are made up of individuals that can meaningful contribute to the discussion of the student’s strengths and needs. The roles of the committees include: identifying students requiring evaluation, interpreting test results for the purpose of determining eligibility, delineating the goals students need to achieve and establishing a plan to address these needs within the least restrictive environment. The committee(s) on special education and preschool special education have high expectations for student with disabilities and the desire to educate of all children with disabilities alongside their typical peers to the greatest extent possible.

Health and Safety Committee

Open to the public

The Health and Safety Committee is comprised of members of the Rocky Point schools community including teachers, parents, support staff and administrators. The committee meets throughout the year to discuss matters pertaining to the health and safety of the students, staff and physical plant. In addition, the committee also discusses any concerns that community members may have so they may be addressed. Core to the committee's mission is providing a safe, secure and comfortable learning environment.

Shared Decision Making Teams

Open to the public

The purpose of the school-based planning and shared decision-making teams shall be to improve the educational performance of all students in the schools. Each building has a team comprised of teachers, parents, administrators, and school-related professionals. In addition, the HS and MS teams include student representatives. Building teams meet monthly and meeting dates can be found on the school calendar.

Wellness Committee

Open to the public

The purpose of the Wellness Committee is to assist the Board of Education, administration and district staff in supporting student achievement by creating a healthy school environment, as well as encourage students to make healthy choices. The Wellness Committee is committed to providing school environments that educate and protect children’s health, well being and ability to learn through healthy eating and physical activity.
