Snacks with Math (Learning for 100 Days)
On Friday, Mrs. Jones' 2nd graders celebrated learning for 100 days. (Including our AMI days) To celebrate, they created their own "snack necklaces" with 100 fruit loops that were separated by groups of tens and then labeled. This project also coincides with the math unit the students have been learning this week and what they will learn next week. When adding our fruit loops on we would find a friend and compare who had a greater amount and a friend who had a less amount, we showed different ways we could model 100, (Some students really like to model 100 with 100 ones!!) and discussed how to regroup with 3-digit numbers.
If you were in our room at the end of the day we apologize for the mess! There was LOTS of learning taking place!
