Learning about MLK Jr.

Mrs. Jones' 2nd graders have spent the week learning about Martin Luther King Jr. Students learned that Mr. King was a leader with passion. A Passion for everyone to be treated fairly no matter what color you are or where you come from. Students were able to understand why Martin had such strong feelings for equality when they learned that Martin's best friend had to stop playing him because the color of their skin wasn't the same and that Martin had to go to a different school. I am proud to say that all the students quickly blurted out, that's not fair! We should all be able to be together.

After our discussions we did a directed drawing of MLK Jr. and painted them with water colors.  If you're in the elementary hallway come check out the finished project.
