Second-Grade Students Learn How to Read a Map
"Oh, The Places You'll Go!"
Mrs. Jones' and Mrs. Trimble’s 2nd-grade classes took a field trip to the Putnam County Library today.
Students in 2nd grade just started their maps unit, learning the four Cardinal directions (North, East, South, and West). A map was created for the students to follow and read to get to their destination. At each intersection, students would read their map to see if the street signs matched the name of the streets they needed to be on to get to the library. They were then asked which direction that was we needed to take in order to get to the correct street. They were all excited when they reached the library.
A big thank you goes out to the Putnam County Library and the Library Director, Mrs. Dana DeVore, for allowing us to visit and for reading to the students, and for doing a drawing for a book giveaway!
The winner of the book was Triton A. He was able to take home a copy of Dr. Seuss' "Oh, The Places You’ll Go!"
Thank you all!
