When we spend time on one priority unfortunately seconds tick off the clock that was not time spent on another important endeavor that required our attention. With Core Academic Standards (CAS) coming down the pipeline, no doubt this has quickly become a priority for the district. It is important to note, the winners in this process will be the teachers who understand the shift required in our instructional practices and those who embrace the literacy component. Our goal is to bring job embedded professional learning that focuses on student achievement and seamlessly unite this with the CAS initiative. They are not separate endeavors, as we embrace the development of these promising practices in our classroom to enhance literacy we will take strides towards the CAS initiative as a district.
